Senator Harris Hosts California Mayors’ Roundtable in San Jose
SAN JOSE – Today, U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris convened a group of California Mayors at a roundtable at the San Jose City Hall to discuss the diverse needs of California communities including infrastructure, bail reform, immigration, jobs, and public safety.
“California’s Mayors are at the forefront of every issue we are working on in Washington and I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet with them today,” said Senator Harris. “Today’s convening was a chance for me to hear their thoughts on important issues that will be debated in Congress over the next few months, including cost sharing subsidies, defending DACA, working to pass the DREAM Act, and infrastructure. I remain committed to fighting for California’s needs in Washington and to supporting our Mayors in their critical role on the frontlines of serving our communities.”
Mayors who attended the convening included Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, Santa Barbara Mayor Helen Schneider, Dana Point Mayor Debra Lewis, Hayward Mayor Barbara Halliday, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, Arvin Mayor Jose Gurrola, Jr., Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval, and Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf.
