Sen. Harris Visits Naval Base Point Loma in San Diego, Tours USS Scranton
SAN DIEGO - Today, U.S. Senator Kamala D. Harris, a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, visited the Naval Base at Point Loma and toured the USS Scranton. Harris received a briefing on capabilities and operations of U.S. Navy Submarine Squadron 11 and learned about the unique role the U.S. Navy plays in National Defense and Intelligence.
“I had the opportunity today to be with the brave men and women who are the ultimate professionals, who have been trained, are dedicated, disciplined and are doing what’s necessary to keep our nation secure,” said Senator Harris. “I’ve spent time over the course of my time in the Senate in connection through my service on both the Homeland Security and Senate Intelligence committees meeting with intelligence professionals and our service members in uniform serving bravely in war zones. So, whether it’s under the blazing sun of a Middle Eastern desert, or deep underneath the Pacific Ocean, I understand the threats that are out there and the very real sacrifices that are being made every day to counter them. I was honored to witness first-hand the heroic nature of the work these individuals do, and will remain vigilant in advocating for their needs and resources in the Senate.”
