Kamala Harris to Hold “Voices of California” Events in Los Angeles Area
On Tuesday, February 21, and Wednesday, February 22, Senator Kamala D. Harris will hold "Voices of California" events in Van Nuys and Los Angeles. At the events, Harris will talk with Californians about the important contributions made by immigrants and refugees to the state's economy. Harris will also hear firsthand how President Trump's executive orders that target immigrants and refugees run counter to the values of Californians, present a challenge to the state's economy, and threaten public safety, as she did in her maiden floor speech this week. At the immigration policy forum, Harris will highlight new localized data from the New American Economy that demonstrates the impact immigrants have on the Los Angeles area economy and the State of California.
Harris will also discuss the Access to Counsel Act, the first piece of legislation she introduced to ensure that those detained at a border crossing or a port of entry have access to their legal counsel.
